Rin woke with a start. She stood up, and felt Len do the same. "Hey, Len? I don't feel safe here. I can't hear anything." Len's reassuring voice called to her, "It's okay. I'm here, I won't let anything hurt you. Everything is different though... there's only grays and whites and blacks here.....so different.." Some help that was... It was scary, and it was confusing. She thought she could 'feel' something move through her paws, and she whispered to Len,"Look over there. DO you see anything?" Len's reply was startling:" It's a bear."

The white-furred bear nosed her way through the bushes, searching for berries around the edge of the clearing. The clearing was relatively empty at the moment, with only a few creatures here and there, and the nocturnal ones falling sleep. This was a safe place, so Aparra didn't bother to soften her steps as she clambered over to another bush and sniffed at it. Her stomach felt hollow, though not yet painfully so. She hadn't had a good fish in a day or two. Reaching out with a paw too big for her body, Aparra stripped a branch of the leaves and berries with her claws and bent to lick them up.

She paused when she heard thought. The humming of life was already filling her mind, but the language of Arima was clear. Two creatures were having a conversation, it seemed. About something moving nearby... about me. Curious, the young kermode stuck her snout between two close-growing bushes and struggled through. "Ah!" In her surprise, Aparra's thoughts were made audible. She hadn't expected creatures quite so large, nor creatures...like this. Shaking her head to rid her snout of a dark grey leaf, the cub looked up with a slightly puzzled expression, curiosity burying fear. "What are you, exactly?"

"Ah!" Rin's small voice called out, and she reared up on her hind legs and tripped over a dust molecule(LOL) and fell onto her back. Len was with her in an instant. "Rin, Rin! Are you okay?" Struggling to her large paws, the delicate wolf-pads touched the ground. Trying to locate the bear, she walked a few steps in front of her, where she could feel the heat from the bear's body-if there actually was something that could pass for heat. "We are cat-wolves, bear," Rin told the she-bear, trying to keep her temper,"You gave me quite a scare! Don't do that again." She scuttled behind her brother, who was much bigger than her. Len sighed and said, "Don't mind her...it's just that she can't see. So you popping out like that really scared her." A sudden thought came to his mind. "What's your name?"

Appara blinked and supressed a grin when one of the creatures - female, going by scent - started and toppled over. The cub lowered her snout apologetically as the canine-esque creature brought herself back up, giving her a glare of annoyance. "We are cat-wolves, bear." Cat-wolves...I s-suppose that makes sense, but... Aparra gave a silent, baffled hum, vibrating deep in her throat, keeping her shining dark eyes on the cat-wolf before her. "You gave me quite a scare! Don't do that again." The scruffy white bear fidgeted, murmuring apologies, but was cut off by a sigh from the lighter-pelted cat-wolf.

"Don't mind her...it's just that she can't see. So you popping out like that really scared her." Couldn't see? In a world of no true sound? Aparra had so many questions now, but she knew that almost all would offend the creatures that she really just wanted to get to know. "What's your name?" Ah, there was a decent question. "I-I'm Aparra," replied the bear, jaw moving and stutter in her thoughts out of old world habit. "You'll tell me your names as well, w-won't you?" Her eyes glimmer with excitement, and her stubby tail is quivering. "Please do!"

Aparra's muzzle twists into something resembling a smile at Rin and Len's responses. "Nice t-to meet the both of you." She swipes a huge white paw over her nose, stifling a yawn, and her mind wanders for a split-second...bringing another question to the surface. "Have you seen much of this world? I've o-only wandered up to the pool and in the forest near the streams."'Her eyes widen, glittering like beetles in a sea of white fur. "I overheard that th-there's a place brighter and hotter than any sun, with hardly a thing to s-see and hardly a soul to feel. H-have you ever been there?" Another yawn rises into the young bear's throat, and this time it can't be stopped. I m-miss night and day. I never know when to sl-sleep now. Miss the sun, miss the moon...[/color] She raises her nose high to look back up at her new acquaintances, eager to feel their responses in her mind.
